Hospice Residence

Providing physical, emotional and spiritual support in a warm and home-like setting

Hospice ResidenceAt some point in their journey, individuals with a terminal illness may need care that cannot be provided in their own home. Our mission at the Lifespan Hospice Residence is to provide expert physical, emotional and spiritual support along with an expanded level of hospice care for our patients, families and community. We want to be a home away from home for those patients who require 24 hour care to get through a healthcare or caregiver crisis. Whether it’s a few days or a few weeks, the Lifespan Hospice Residence is your “Hospice Hospital”.

The Lifespan Hospice Resdience features ten fully furnished private suites. Each suite is large enough to accommodate family and friends who want to be close to their loved one. Each suite has access to a private deck and is equipped with a kitchenette, private bathroom, and individual temperature controls. Family and friends are encouraged to visit at any time and there is no age limit for visitors.

The Hospice Residence Provides Two Levels of Care

Inpatient Care

Residents that need short-term 24 hour care for pain control or to help manage severe symptoms which cannot be managed in a home setting.  Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurances will pay for this level of care.

Routine Care

Residents needing help with daily care, but whose pain and symptoms are managed. Medicare, Medicaid and most Commercial Insurance will pay for this level of care, however, Medicare does not cover the daily room and board charges.  Although some insurance plans may cover the room and board fee, it is ultimately the responsibility of the resident.

Who is eligible for Hospice?

Hospice serves persons of any age with a life-limiting illness whose life expectance is measured in months rather than years and has come to the decision of comfort care rather than curative treatment. It is important to realize that Hospice is not just for patients with a cancer diagnosis but for ALL life-limiting illnesses such as Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS), cardiac disease, liver disease, kidney disease, lung disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, failure to thrive, multi-organ failure or AIDS.
