As the first and longest operating home healthcare agency in the area, LIFESPAN has a long tradition of compassionate, patient-centered care.
In 1996 Visiting Nurse Services (est. 1956), initiated a merger with Good Samaritan Hospice Care, (est. 1981), VNS Continu Care, a home medical equipment provider and a local home care nursing organization. This successful merger created a nonprofit subsidiary within Battle Creek Health System known today as LIFESPAN. The main purpose and ultimate goal of this merger was to consolidate all home care services under a single umbrella organization that could provide coordination with one phone call from a physician, patient, insurance company or family member. LIFESPAN has been effectively doing just that since 1996.
